went to watch 2 movies - "night at the museum" and "blood diamond" on thursday... night at the musuem was really a hilarious show... it tickled me from the beginning of the show till the end of it... but one scene i really remember is the scene where easter face said the main character - larry on his first night at the museum, "dumb dumb, give me gum gum." it may not sound funny here but if you have the chance, go watch the show, it is really hilarious, and when you watch it, you'll understand why i remember that scene so well... haha...

on the other hand, blood diamond is really the opposite of night at the museum... blood diamond was bloody and it was really a battlefield out there where the ruf and government were fighting for power... the ruf were rebels who terrorised villages and while doing so, they will kill people or should i say they literally annihilate villages... some fortunate ones manage to escape while many others are not so fotunate... although violent and bloody, there was really a hidden message behind the whole show and that is people have different motives and agendas and because of the different motives and agendas that people have, conflict arises... and many a times, people do not solve these differences in a diplomatic manner, hence leading to war and other political scruffle... and in the case of blood diamond, the people (ruf) turn to civil war... and in order to finance their movement in the country, they make their pows find diamonds... these diamonds known as conflict diamonds are then given to overseas weapon dealers in exchange for weapons and ammunition... these weapon dealers in turn sell them to jewelers... jewelers will then mix these conflict diamonds with the "clean" diamonds and sell them at a fortune...

another lesson i learnt from blood diamond is never take things at face value 'cos some things may not appear to be what it seems like it is... like when consumers buy diamonds, do they ever ask if the diamonds are conflict free??? no they don't... as long as it's a diamond and it suits their needs and budget, they will get it... do they ever bother where the diamond comes from??? the answer is no...

guess it's time i start putting what i've learnt through the movie into practice...
